Vision & Mission

Our mission is clear: to champion inclusivity, equality, and justice for all. In a world that often favors the privileged, I pledge to be the steadfast advocate for those who have been marginalized for far too long. I am not driven by the desire for power, but by the belief that every individual, regardless of gender, background, or circumstance, deserves a fair and equal opportunity to thrive.

Vision

I believe that through careful planning and committed leadership, a better and improved division is possible. I created L.E.A.P., a four-step programme to provide a practical blueprint towards achieving this goal.

Assistance to persons seeking employment opportunities and helping entrepreneurs obtain financing to expand their business.

Improvement of community social programmes such as sports, sex education and the elimination of gender-based violence.

Our Main Attention

We are ready to continue to work for you and your community

Education

Investing in early childhood education is a commitment to building a stronger, more equitable future. By prioritizing the development of our youngest minds, we sow the seeds for a society grounded in knowledge, empathy, and shared prosperity

Infrastructure

Investing in infrastructure connects communities and drives economic growth. By enhancing our physical connectivity, we also bridge gaps that hinder opportunity, creating a more resilient and prosperous future for all.

Emplyoment

Creating jobs not only boosts the economy but also fosters a sense of purpose, dignity, and self-sufficiency. Let's prioritize policies that promote job growth, skill development, and fair wages to ensure everyone can contribute to and benefit from our community's prosperity.

Sydna Amore
Councillor Caretaker

“Young people need to vote. They need to get out there. Every vote counts. Educate yourself too. Don’t just vote. Know what you’re voting for and stand by that.”

About Sydna Amore

Leadership. Experience. Values.

LEADERSHIP

Sydna Amore has more than 25 years experience educating a wide range of age groups. Coupled with pursuing her calling to help others achieve their highest potential, Sydna vigorously advocates for Early Childhood Education.   And Sydna walks her talk – she organized and ran a successful 6 week summer program with the Tredegar Park Basic School and regularly donates school supplies to communities such as Tredegar Park, Waterloo, Lauriston and Thompson Pen Road  and can often be found reading to preschoolers. In May 2021 and 2022, she put together a team of community workers to coordinate a special Child’s Month event –  a fun day specifically designed for children in her division featuring games and giveaways. Generous donors for these events were: Food for the Poor, Lasco, Wisynco, National Bakery, Jamaica Biscuit Company, Grace Foods Rainforest Seafoods, Purity Bakery, CB Chicken, Maxfield Bakery, Best Dressed Chicken, Massey Limited, Sanmerna Paper Products and individual private donors as well as members of ‘Team Amore’.

Sydna’s volunteer efforts are also directed at social development, another of her passions. She  sponsors several community activities and groups including The Tredegar Park and Glades football teams. During the height of the Covid 19 pandemic, she collaborated with Purity Bakery and  local farmers to form the Lauriston Division Food Drive, which created a crucial lifeline between vendors supplying food and community members in need.

EXPERIENCE

As your councilor caretaker, I understand the importance of community infrastructure development and job creation.’ The evidence is clear, Sydna has assisted 80 persons to secure employment with a major cruise line,  enrolled a number of persons in the Path Program and  helped many others secure positions with several prominent companies.

VALUES

Sydna’s exceptional family values extend beyond the bounds of her close relatives. A single parent who, through her own determination and resourcefulness,  has become a well-respected and powerhouse of enthusiasm galvanising support for development programs benefiting all community members.

She often attends funeral services for members who have passed away, donates to the old age community center and has renovated the Tredegar Park Basic School to provide a safe and comfortable learning atmosphere for about 20  children living in the surrounding community.

“I  will stand by you, up for and always for you.”

Mission & Vision

L.E.A.P. into a better future.

I believe that through careful planning and committed leadership, a better and improved division is possible. I created L.E.A.P., a four-step programme to provide a practical blueprint towards achieving this goal.

L.E.A.P stands for:

Livelihood Assistance to persons seeking employment opportunities and helping entrepreneurs obtain financing to expand their business.

Education– Special attention will be given to early childhood development under this heading as well as skills training and literacy programs for all ages.

Amenities – Improvement of community social programmes such as sports, sex education and the elimination of gender-based violence.

Programmes – Active programmes include: creation of Neighborhood Watch programmes, assisting community members in enrolling in the government PATH programme, help with housing development and a feeding program for the elderly and shut-ins.

Sydna’s team is also heavily involved in community-based foootball programmes through weekly sponsorship of teams and active involvement in competitions through sponsorship of medals and refreshments.

Concerns & Issues

Top Issues that voters consider important:

Education – Concerns about  the education of our young people  have been some of the most pressing topics in the division and cannot be ignored. We are working diligently to improve the quality of and accessibility to educational opportunities as evidenced by our renovation of the Tredegar Park Basic School.

Social Development – We believe our entire community is responsible for its own social development. With inspiring leadership and community commitment, social development can help to mitigate crime, promote community cohesion, instill positive values and enrich lives.

Housing – There should be no excuses blocking anyone from having a comfortable and safe place to live. Our Division has, for a long time, lacked the resources to ensure all of its members have access to this basic necessity. Our goal is to eliminate homelessness in the Lauriston Division.
